Overseas Vehicle Modification Engineer

Stellenbeschreibung:

1. End-to-End Independent Vehicle Modification

  • Independently manage the full lifecycle of autonomous driving test vehicle modification, from initial build through integration, commissioning, and final delivery.
  • Perform sensor selection support, mounting & positioning, mechanical fixation, harness routing, deployment & calibration, and functional validation for cameras, millimeter-wave radars (mmWave radars), LiDARs, and other sensors.
  • Independently design and fabricate customized wiring harnesses, including power supply, CAN/CAN FD, automotive Ethernet, and signal lines — covering routing, termination, shielding, protection, fixation, and label management.
  • Install, integrate, mount, and commission onboard computing units, power supply systems, networking equipment, data loggers, and associated hardware.
  • Ensure all modification solutions comply with vehicle structural safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), power safety, communication reliability, and road-test requirements.

2. Advanced Intelligent Driving System Integration

  • Independently deploy and commission advanced intelligent driving multi-sensor fusion systems on vehicles.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating complex sensor configurations comprising 10+ cameras, 3+ mmWave radars, and 1+ LiDAR units.
  • Execute sensor power supply, communication, time synchronization, data acquisition, host controller communication, and system-level integration & debugging.
  • Proficient in CAN/CAN FD, LIN, and automotive Ethernet protocols; capable of performing baseline analysis, debugging, and fault localization using CANoe, CANalyzer, packet sniffers, and related tools.

3. Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting

  • Independently perform systematic commissioning, road-test support, and closed-loop fault resolution for modified vehicles.
  • Rapidly diagnose and resolve issues including sensor data loss, communication anomalies, power supply faults, connector looseness, harness damage, network link failures, and mechanical interference.
  • Proficient in using multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, CAN diagnostic tools, and other equipment for hardware-level troubleshooting of sensors, harnesses, connectors, power modules, and networking equipment.

4. Efficiency & Process Optimization

  • Strictly control modification quality and lead time, ensuring per-vehicle modification cycle is consistently maintained within 5 working days.
  • Continuously optimize modification processes, tooling, harness solutions, and work procedures; establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and inspection records.
  • Support team capability development to enhance consistency, efficiency, and delivery quality of vehicle modifications.

Qualifications

1. Experience & Background

  • Fluent in spoken English, capable of working overseas and conducting cross-departmental communications in English.
  • Minimum 2 years of dedicated vehicle modification experience on passenger vehicles.
  • Prior experience must focus on the integration and modification of autonomous driving or Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) vehicles.
  • Experience limited to commercial vehicles, logistics vehicles, sweepers, mining trucks, heavy trucks, or general after-sales maintenance will not be considered.
  • Independently completed modification of 10+ autonomous driving test vehicles of comparable complexity.
  • Must have at least one successful case of independently modifying an advanced intelligent driving test vehicle, with supporting evidence such as project descriptions, on-site photographs, delivery records, or other documentation.
  • Able to accommodate overseas vehicle modification, on-site deployment, testing, and short-/medium-term business travel.
  • Thorough understanding of the working principles, mounting standards, deployment requirements, and calibration methods for cameras, mmWave radars, and LiDARs.
  • Familiar with passenger vehicle body structures; capable of non-destructive or minimally invasive drilling, routing, installation, reinforcement, and protection.
  • Solid foundation in automotive low-voltage circuits, electronic circuits, power protection, grounding, shielding, and EMC fundamentals.
  • Able to independently design, draft, and review modification wiring diagrams, pin-out definitions, installation drawings, and modification BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Familiar with automotive CAN/CAN FD, LIN, and automotive Ethernet protocols; capable of connecting and commissioning sensors, computing units, switches, data loggers, and related equipment.
  • Strong hands-on skills; proficient in using crimping tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, heat guns, wire strippers, and standard mechanical installation tools.

3. Core Competencies & Attributes

  • Able to independently own vehicle modification projects, taking full responsibility for modification quality, safety, cycle time, and delivery outcomes.
  • Strong sense of quality awareness, safety awareness, and on-site discipline.
  • Capable of calm, logical analysis and closed-loop problem resolution when confronting complex issues.
  • Able to accommodate on-site vehicle work, field testing, and short-term business travel.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Prior experience at Tier 1 suppliers or well-known autonomous driving companies (e.g., Momenta, Huawei, QCraft).
  • Capability in network device configuration, including basic configuration of onboard switches, routers, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with Linux fundamentals, data recording device configuration, and log collection.
  • Holds relevant certifications such as electrician certificate, fitter certificate, or automotive maintenance/modification qualifications.
  • Experience modifying autonomous driving test vehicles across different OEM brands and vehicle platforms.
