Parts Quality Inspector (m/w/d) - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

What To Expect

This position is an integral part of the Supply Chain Operations organization and will be responsible for managing incoming parts inspections, sorting, rework, material disposition, and oversight of all 3rd party companies performing work on behalf of Tesla. The successful candidate will ensure all products and processes meet customer and company requirements. He/she will be responsible for quality processes that ensure sort, rework, rejected material disposition and material returns are executed efficiently, and will be responsible for reporting on open rework/sort activity and working closely with the Quality and Supplier Industrialization Engineers to bring timely closure to all off‑line process.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct thorough visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of supplier parts using standard tools and gauges; interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to classify defects (P1–P4) and document findings accurately.
  • Manage daily inspection plans at Giga factory and external warehouse sites to maintain production flow, safety stock buffers, and timely material release.
  • Lead and coordinate sorting, rework, and return‑to‑vendor (RTV) activities; ensure proper containment and disposition of non‑conforming material.
  • Supervise third‑party service providers on sorting targets, execution quality, and adherence to discipline and process standards.
  • Perform monthly/weekly inventory and cycle count activities; monitor key performance metrics to reduce open rework/sorts and MRB inventory.
  • Apply basic problem‑solving tools (e.g., 5Why, initial 8D steps) to identify root causes of recurring defects; support containment plans and data‑driven improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with SQA, Production, Quality, Supplier Industrialization, Design, and Suppliers to resolve discrepancies, confirm material readiness, and ensure timely line delivery.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in quality inspection within automotive, supply chain, or manufacturing environments. Prior experience with supplier parts, sorting/rework, and production support is essential.
  • Solid understanding of quality fundamentals: 5Why, Control Plans, 8D basics, and defect classification (P1–P4).
  • Experienced with business systems: MFS, FX, MRB, JIRA, SCAR/SSORT, and supplier portals.
  • Strong Excel skills for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, TPS) is a plus.
  • Problem‑solver with initiative to identify and suggest process improvements.
  • Fluent in English (German language skills are a strong advantage).
  • Flexible to work rotating shifts (early, late, night) in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Candidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement.
