PhD - A Generator of Optimized Winding Schemes in Electrical Machines

In this PhD-focused role, you will develop mathematical models for pin winding systems to enable innovative electric machine designs. You will formulate robust representations of real-world boundary conditions and constraints, including manufacturing factors. You will assess the feasibility and efficiency of discrete optimization algorithms and integrate models into existing simulation tools to optimize winding schemes using KPIs. You join a collaborative, research-driven team at Bosch and contribute to impactful, scalable solutions.

• Develop a novel mathematical approach for modeling pin winding systems (hairpin windings)
• Formulate robust mathematical representations of boundary conditions and constraints
• Analyze computational complexity and runtime of discrete optimization algorithms
• Integrate mathematical models into existing simulation tools to evaluate winding schemes based on KPIs

• experience in optimization, particularly discrete optimization
• experience with electromagnetic field simulation and applying math to real-world problems, ideally with electric machines
• hands-on knowledge of object-oriented programming
• strong coding skills in MATLAB and Python
• experience with version control and Visual Studio
