Working at Charité
The MR Elastography Working Group is part of the interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1340 at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and conducts research at the intersection of medicine, preclinical research, physics, and computer science. This subproject focuses on investigating tumor-associated inflammation and biophysical interactions between the tumor and the liver in order to identify imaging markers for disease progression and response to therapeutic treatment. Furthermore, the markers will be evaluated to analyze the response to image-guided, locoregional therapies in interventional radiology. The project involves performing quantitative MRI/MRE scans and analyzing biosamples from patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.
Imaging studies conducted before and after locoregional therapy approved in accordance with guidelines, combined with peri-interventional liver and tumor biopsies, will enable correlation with molecular and histopathological findings. xmdgtar In close collaboration with clinical and scientific partners within the Collaborative Research Center, we combine methodological development, experimental ultrasound and MRI systems, and biophysical modeling into a translational research approach.
