For working in the field of magnetic technology in the group Normal Conducting Magnets and Alignment (NCM) we are looking for the following person to join us as soon as possible

The scope of responsibilities includes, in particular:

Overseeing the procurement of normal-conducting accelerator magnets for FAIR from external suppliers, from design through commissioning. This includes:

• Monitoring design and production progress
• Organizing and conducting design reviews and acceptance tests at both international manufacturers and GSI
• Overseeing and evaluating magnetic acceptance measurements
• Reviewing or preparing documentation
• Revising/adapting the design of coils and iron yokes for normal-conducting accelerator magnets
• Revising/adapting the specifications for accelerator magnets and preparing bid documents in close collaboration with the respective machine managers, other specialist groups, as well as the project office and the purchasing department
• Planning preliminary and final assembly

Your profile:

• A successfully completed degree in physics (or a comparable field) and a Ph.D.
• You have experience managing technical projects.
• Ideally, you already have knowledge and professional experience in one of the following fields: magnet fabrication, calculation of electromagnetic fields using the finite element method, electrical measurement technology, accelerator physics, electrical engineering
• You enjoy working in a small team of specialists, seeking a constant exchange of information, while still acting very independently and taking ownership of your work.
• You want to demonstrate your meticulous, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work, and at the same time, you are curious, creative, and interested in expanding your subject-specific expertise
• You possess organizational skills, excellent communication and documentation abilities, as well as very good German (at least B2) and good English language skills, which you will use when collaborating with technicians, engineers, and accelerator physicists.
