Overview

Join our innovative research team as a PhD candidate to develop a microfluidic sample-preparation unit using magnetic beads for next-generation molecular diagnostics. You will design a cartridge-compatible platform to handle functionalized magnetic particles across capture, washing, transfer, resuspension and release. Model particle dynamics with multiphysics tools and build prototypes, evaluating recovery, processing time and reproducibility. Translate your findings into design rules for disposable cartridges to enable future product development.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • develop a microfluidic sample-preparation unit based on magnetic beads for MDx workflows
  • design a reusable, cartridge-compatible microfluidic handling module
  • conduct targeted literature research on magnetic particle manipulation
  • develop multiphysics models (e.g., COMSOL) to optimize trajectories and fluid interactions
  • create functional prototypes and quantify performance (recovery, time, reproducibility)
  • translate modeling results into design rules for disposable cartridges
  • deliver transferable models and prototypes for future product development
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • solid knowledge of microfluidics, fluid dynamics, and multiphysics simulation
  • practical experience in design, prototyping, and testing of lab-on-a-chip systems
  • familiarity with magnetic particles, non-Newtonian fluids, or MDx sample preparation
  • excellent master’s degree in a related field
  • independent work style with strong communication and ownership
