PostDoc Position in the field of condensed matter physics (f/m/d)
The 1st Institute of Physics at the Georg-August Universität Göttingen invites applications for a
PostDoc Position in the field of condensed matter physics (f/m/d) (Salary group 13 TV-L, 100 %, 39,8 hours per week)
The position is available in the research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Weitz. In the project you will perform foundational research on towards understanding novel correlated phases in van-der-Waals heterostructures. The position is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for 3 years within a QUANTERA project, Europe's premier co-funded quantum research program.
Within the advertised position, explore the quantum properties of 2D materials at the frontier of quantum technology — from topological quantum states and phenomena to novel device concepts that can power the next generation of quantum systems.
If you like an international, interdisciplinary, flexible and motivating environment with ample possibilities for own career development, mentoring and career support you will enjoy working in our group.
You have successfully completed a scientific university degree (Master's or equivalent Diploma) in physics and hold a PhD in the field of physics with above-average grades. Ideally, you have already gained several years of postdoctoral research experience in the field of quantum transport in van der Waals heterostructures. You should have furthermore have experience with fabricating, characterizing and contacting complex van-der-Waals heterostuctures, low-temperature electronic measurements of quantum Hall and superconducting states.
The University of Göttingen is an equal opportunities employer and places particular emphasis on fostering career opportunities for women. Qualified women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply as they are underrepresented in the field. The university has committed itself to being a family-friendly institution and supports their employees in balancing work and family life. The mission of the University is to employ a greater number of severely disabled persons. Applications from severely disabled persons with equivalent qualifications will be given preference.
