Job description: Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x) in Human Neuroimaging and Metabolic Research. Full time, 39 hrs/week, partial home office possible.

The Institute of Diabetes Research and Metabolic Diseases (IDM) in Tübingen provides a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will study the interaction between brain function and metabolism, focusing on human neuroimaging and mechanisms linking metabolic dysfunction to brain health.

You will join the Division of Metabolic Neuroimaging and work at the interface of neuroscience, metabolism, and translational medicine. We seek a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to drive cutting‑edge projects forward.

Responsibilities

• Analyze human neuroimaging data, with a particular focus on fMRI
• Develop, implement, and optimize analysis pipelines using MATLAB, Python, and R
• Perform statistical analyses of multimodal human datasets (neuroimaging, metabolic and cognitive measures)
• Contribute to study design, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation
• Present findings at national and international conferences
• Collaborate closely with clinicians, neuroscientists, and metabolic researchers
• Contribute to the supervision of students and junior researchers where appropriate
• Contribute to grant writing for current and future projects

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience, psychology, medicine, biomedical engineering, computer science, statistics, or a related field
• Strong experience in fMRI data analysis (e.g., using SPM, FSL, fMRIprep)
• Strong programming skills in MATLAB and Python
• Good knowledge of statistical analysis in R
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative research environment
• Very good written and spoken English
• Publication record in the field of neuroimaging

Offer

Salary grade up to E 13. Social benefits based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public‑Sector Employees (TVöD). Position fixed term 2 years, may be extended.
