Postdoctoral Researcher in Algebra (Lie Theory)
commencing on (or later). We offer a full-time position (40 hours per week) offered as a fixed-term position for the duration of 2 years.
The position is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and is associated with the research project “Poisson-Commutative Subalgebras and the Feigin–Frenkel Centre”. The project is situated in the areas of Lie and representation theories, with connections to algebraic geometry, Poisson geometry, and mathematical physics. The successful candidate will contribute actively to the research programme of the project and to the international activities of the Algebra group at the Institute of Mathematics.
Your responsibilities:
- Conduct research within the framework of the DFG-funded project “Poisson-Commutative Subalgebras and the Feigin–Frenkel Centre”
- Obtain and publish high-quality research results in Lie theory, representation theory, and related areas
- Collaborate with project partners and members of the Algebra group
- Contribute to the organization of research seminars in Jena
Your profile:
- An excellent Ph.D. degree in Mathematics with a strong background in Lie theory, representation theory, or closely related areas
- Proven ability to conduct independent mathematical research, demonstrated through publications or high-quality preprints
- Strong interest in the topics related to the Feigin–Frenkel centre, Poisson geometry, integrable systems, or symmetric invariants of Lie algebras
- Very good written and spoken English skills
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: affine Kac–Moody algebras, Poisson structures, invariant theory
- Experience with international scientific collaboration
