We are looking for an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing next-generation technologies for aerospace and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) applications.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with experience in high-power-density converters and electric propulsion who wants to work on cutting-edge systems where efficiency, weight, reliability and performance are critical.
The Role
As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, integration and validation of advanced power conversion and propulsion systems for aerospace applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing high-power-density power converters
- Working on power electronics for electric propulsion systems
- Developing and optimising inverter and converter architectures for aerospace applications
- Supporting the integration of electric motors, inverters and propulsion systems
- Selecting and applying advanced power semiconductor technologies , including SiC and GaN
- Performing electrical, thermal and system-level analysis and simulations
- Optimising converter efficiency, power density, weight and thermal performance
- Supporting the development of converter control strategies and motor-control systems
- Developing prototypes and supporting laboratory and system-level testing
- Performing validation, troubleshooting and performance optimisation
- Supporting environmental, reliability and qualification testing
- Working closely with electrical, mechanical, software, controls, thermal and systems engineering teams
- Contributing to technical documentation, design reviews and system certification activities
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline
- Professional experience in power electronics development
- Experience with high-power-density converters, inverters and/or electric propulsion
- Strong understanding of power conversion and inverter topologies
- Experience with SiC, GaN and/or other advanced power semiconductor technologies
- Knowledge of motor control and electric drive systems
- Understanding of thermal management, switching losses, EMI/EMC and high-frequency design
- Experience with simulation tools such as PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice or similar
- Practical experience with prototype development, testing and validation
- Experience working within safety-critical, aerospace, automotive or highly regulated environments is advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A hands-on and structured approach to engineering
- Good working proficiency in English
