Opoura

Power Systems Engineer

Stellenbeschreibung:

We're on a growth journey, driven by deep knowledge and skilled colleagues shaping the future of energy. Together, we deliver smart, scalable solutions that help our clients succeed in the energy transition. Do you want to be part of igniting what's next in energy? Join us.

At Opoura, we are looking for a Power Systems Engineer to join our team working with grid studies and power system modeling for renewable energy projects. You will be part of our Power Engineering team, supporting the integration of wind, solar, and hybrid assets while ensuring compliance with grid requirements.

Our work sits at the intersection of grid codes, control systems, and real-world operation. We work closely with Software and SCADA teams to ensure that models and analyses reflect how systems behave in practice.

For the right candidate, the role can be based in Hamburg or Hannover in Germany, Silkeborg in Denmark, or in Porto, Portugal.

Your role

As our Power Systems Engineer, you will ensure that our control and SCADA solutions integrate reliably into real-world power systems. You will work across power systems, control engineering, and product development, translating grid requirements into robust and scalable solutions.

You will contribute to the development of our power plant controller products, ensuring they meet evolving grid codes and perform reliably across different markets and system configurations.

Your main responsibilities as our Power Systems Engineer will be:

  • Design and optimize grid connection solutions for wind, solar, and hybrid energy systems
  • Model and simulate power system behavior using tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, and Simulink
  • Translate grid code requirements into product features and control strategies
  • Identify grid integration challenges and turn them into product improvements
  • Collaborate with control engineers to integrate grid functionality into control solutions
  • Support development of documentation and guidelines related to grid compliance
  • Engage with utilities and TSOs when clarification of grid behavior is required

To be successful in this position, you:

  • Apply power systems knowledge to real grid integration challenges
  • Translate complex requirements into practical engineering solutions
  • Use modeling and simulation to validate system behavior
  • Contribute to improving product robustness, scalability, and compliance
  • Work effectively across control, software, and product teams
  • Take a structured and analytical approach to problem-solving

Your background

You have a strong technical understanding of power systems and an interest in how systems behave in real operation. You are comfortable working across disciplines and contributing to both analysis and solution design. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience with power systems engineering and grid integration
  • Hands-on experience with tools such such as PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, or Simulink
  • Understanding of grid codes and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with renewable energy systems, power plants, or similar infrastructure
  • Ability to work in cross-functional engineering teams
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field

We help energy companies unlock the potential of the energy transition with smart, scalable solutions. With Nordic roots and a strong footprint in North America and Europe, we bring decades of experience in software, hardware, and consulting to support our clients in connecting, controlling, and commercializing energy assets.

From IPPs to traders and TSOs, our clients trust us to navigate complex energy infrastructure, drive informed decisions, and boost performance. Backed by diverse teams and deep industry knowledge, we deliver impact across the energy value chain.

Our people make up one global team united by our diverse perspectives, working together to meet the unique needs of each region and each client we serve.
