Principal Engineer - Brake Systems (EHB/BbW) Function Design and Tuning

Overview

In this role you lead the development and calibration of advanced braking and BbW control strategies for highly automated vehicles. You collaborate with a global R&D community within the Automotive Engineering Lab to shape braking architectures and future vehicle dynamics. You will model pedal feel, calibrate slip and stability controls, and ensure safe integration with chassis subsystems. This position offers the chance to influence driver interaction features and contribute to ISO 26262 and cybersecurity compliance in a multinational setting.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Research, design and tune braking features and control strategies (e.g., brake pedal feel, slip and stability control)
  • Integrate Braking/BbW with chassis control systems (E-Motor, ADS/ADAS, SbW)
  • Perform vehicle-level testing and calibration to validate braking performance and stability
  • Model and verify system performance using tools (Canape, Canoe, dSpace, Matlab-Simulink, C++ coding, VBox, NCode)
  • Support functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity compliance for BbW systems
  • Contribute to driver interaction features for the brake system interface (e.g., drift mode, donut mode)
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Master’s or higher in Automotive Engineering Control Systems or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in design of braking and/or BbW or related chassis systems
  • Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics, kinematics, and control theory
  • Proven expertise in designing and deploying braking/BbW control algorithms
  • Proven expertise in tuning longitudinal and lateral slip controllers
  • Experience developing calibration strategies across drive modes
  • Strong communication and ability to deliver under pressure
  • Fluency in English and willingness to travel to China (~20%)
