Principal Engineer (f/m/d) Application Engineering

In this role you shape and advance Renault Renesas MCU tools and ecosystem for automotive applications. You’ll lead embedding and optimization work across motor control, inverter, and gateway domains, collaborating with hardware and software teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions. You’ll act as a technical advisor to automotive customers and enable ecosystems through training and cross-functional support. • Drive development of complex embedded applications and reference designs using Renesas MCUs, focusing on automotive domains like motor control, inverter, and gateway
• Provide deep direction on low-level embedded programming, RTOS, HALs, and performance optimization
• Serve as senior technical advisor to strategic automotive customers for integration and deployment
• Support marketing and sales with technical assistance during design activities and enable customer success
• Provide technical training to FAE, Sales, partners, and customers
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to deliver cohesive, scalable solutions
• Mentor junior engineers and application teams to foster knowledge sharing and excellence

• 8+ years in embedded systems software development, ideally in automotive domain
• Deep knowledge of embedded processors/microcontroller architectures for automotive
• Experience with embedded operating systems and automotive protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
• Proficient in low-level C programming and Python or similar scripting
• Experience in development, integration, and debugging of drivers and firmware including HALs and middleware
• Board-level design, circuit analysis, debugging with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
• Experience with automated and system-level testing frameworks
