Description: The Principal Physical AI Hardware FAE provides technical support for SoC-based hardware designs, helping customers with schematic and PCB reviews, power architecture, high-speed interfaces, signal integrity, bring-up, debugging, validation, and compliance testing. The Principal Physical AI Hardware FAE acts as the technical bridge between customers and SiMa.ai, ensuring successful integration, performance optimization, and issue resolution from prototype to mass production.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers integrating our SoC.
- Provide hardware design support, including schematic, PCB layout, and power architecture reviews.
- Support implementation and optimization of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, USB, MIPI, and SerDes.
- Assist customers with board bring-up, debugging, validation, and system performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot hardware, signal integrity, power integrity, and system-level issues through root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with silicon, hardware, software, and product engineering teams to resolve customer issues and drive design improvements.
- Develop technical documentation, application notes, design guidelines, and customer training materials.
- Manage technical escalations and ensure successful customer deployment from prototype through mass production.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in hardware design, system engineering, validation, or Field Application Engineering.
- Strong understanding of SoC architecture, digital hardware design, and system integration.
- Experience reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, and power delivery architectures.
- Hands‑on experience with board bring‑up, debugging, and validation of complex embedded systems.
- Knowledge of high-speed interfaces, including PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, USB, MIPI, and SerDes technologies.
- Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, and hardware troubleshooting methodologies.
- Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and JTAG tools.
- Strong customer-facing communication, presentation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across cross‑functional engineering and customer teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI accelerators, NPUs, and edge AI platforms.
- Familiarity with DDR5, LPDDR5/5x/6, UCIe, and advanced packaging technologies.
- Knowledge of Linux, embedded firmware, and hardware/software interaction
PREFERRED
- Based in Germany / Stuttgart
- System/Solution Architecture (HW + SW + Edge/Physical AI) experience.
- Prior experience in customer-facing roles such as Application/Field Application Engineering.
- Experience with AI/ML, Conversational AI, and LLM based applications.
- Willing to travel ~50% of the time.
