Principal/Expert Engineer - New Inverter Based Grid Solutions

In this role you shape the development of converter-based grids and grid modernization initiatives within Huawei’s Ohm Research Center. You will drive advanced power technologies, align with industry standards, and ensure resilience while integrating renewables. You’ll collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, high-impact grid solutions for modern energy systems. • Advance converter-based grid technologies (MVDC, SST, STATCOM/FACTS) and integrate with renewable sources
• Lead grid modernization and renewable integration efforts across DC and AC networks
• Contribute to industry standards and regulatory discussions (IEEE, IEC, CIGRE, VDE)
• Design scalable power system solutions focused on reliability, stability, and efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into robust architectures
• Represent and communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Expertise in MVDC or SST within renewable-rich grids
• Experience with integrating renewables and storage into power systems
• Hands-on development and control of high-power inverters; familiarity with grid-forming inverters is a plus
• Understanding of grid resilience and stability in evolving energy systems
• Active involvement in standardization groups or regulatory bodies is desirable
• Strong English communication; German knowledge is a plus
