Principle Engineer - Energy Management System & BESS Applications

As a Senior/Principal Engineer, you will lead EMS development for Battery Energy Storage Systems across European markets. You’ll design and validate advanced control algorithms, model high-fidelity battery and power systems, and optimize dispatch for market participation. You collaborate with software, hardware, and BESS teams to ensure integrated, reliable solutions. • Design, simulate and implement EMS control strategies for BESS dispatch
• Model batteries, power conversion, and management systems for ESS solutions
• Develop optimization and forecasting models (linear, nonlinear, AI-based)
• Prototype validation using HIL/CHIL environments to verify performance
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and BESS-controller teams for seamless integration

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Strong background in energy systems modeling, optimization, forecasting, and control strategies
• Proficiency in Python for algorithm development and data-driven analysis
• Knowledge of C/C++
• Experience in power system modeling/simulation (e.g., DigSILENT, Modelica)
• BESS architectures and operation knowledge; direct experience with energy management algorithms for battery systems
