Overview

GFIC is recruiting for an international value-added food ingredients distributor working in Europe, West Asia and Africa.

This position is a succession role for a long-standing employee who is retiring. A transition phase is planned. The candidate would start as an application technologist in our laboratory and would be trained for the new role by the current job holder.

PRODUCT AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Food Ingredients / Oil, Fats, Cacoa

Responsibilities

  • Keep principals satisfied: act as their key contact for strategic and company-wide topics, ensure achievement of their objectives, keep them informed (potentials, projects and activities, sales data, market studies, …).
  • Support and keep sales managers motivated: act as a coach for strategic matters, share information about principals, organize training, discuss quarter plans, analyse market trends, global or local customer plans; ensure sales support tools are used properly, provide technical advice and price negotiations with principals, support joint customer visits; recruit and train new sales managers in coordination with the Country Manager.
  • Proactive business development: anticipate market trends and develop tools to follow them, work closely with principals, sales managers and internal application centres/labs; analyse portfolio and search/check new potential principals; develop internal structures to fulfil principals' requirements (reporting structures, central stock, central sampling, technical service, labs) in coordination with the Board.
  • Reporting structure: reporting to CSO; functional lead of sales managers; direct reports: Supplier Service Manager.

Requirements

  • Food technologist (university degree)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in food ingredients
  • Deep technological application know-how in food segments/categories
  • Sales experience preferably in a multicultural geographical zone (mostly EMEA)
  • Communicative, proactive, analytical thinking, supportive skills and dedication to sell added value ingredient specialties
  • Management, leadership and team player skills
  • Perfect English; prepared to travel (travel ratio min. 30%)
  • Location: Europe; home office based
  • Must have a degree in Food Technology
