Product Development Specialist

The client is a leading international Indian manufacturer of CNC machine tools with over 35 years of experience, recognized for delivering high-quality, reliable, and innovative machining solutions, backed by strong engineering expertise and world-class customer support.

• Place of Performance - Europe with periodic travel to India

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main Objective:

• Implementation of ContinuousImprovement Processes (CIP) activities through workshops and employee coaching
• Lead the architecture, design, and development of next-generation HMCs, VMCs, Turn Mill, and Multi-Tasking machine platforms.
• Drive technology benchmarking and innovation, leveraging global best practices from leading machine tool manufacturers.
• Provide technical leadership in machine design, kinematics, structural engineering, machine dynamics, and performance optimization.
• Own the integration of key machine systems, including spindles, rotary tables, ATCs, CNC controls, automation, and digital manufacturing technologies.
• Lead product development reviews and validation activities, ensuring superior precision, rigidity, thermal stability, reliability, and productivity.
• Champion Design for Manufacturing (DFM), value engineering, and cost optimization to achieve globally competitive products.
• Guide material selection, manufacturing technologies, chip and coolant management systems, enhancing machine performance, maintainability, and lifecycle value.
• Drive operator-centric and sustainable machine development, focusing on ergonomics, safety, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
• Define automation-ready machine architectures, incorporating robotics, pallet systems, Industry 4.0 connectivity, remote diagnostics, and smart manufacturing solutions.
• Mentor engineering teams and contribute to the company's technology roadmap and long-term innovation strategy.
• Visit the company's manufacturing and R&D facility in India once every three months.

Job Specification

Education / Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in: Mechanical Engineering / Machine Tool Engineering
• Business English and the local language, depending on the country
• HMC, VMC & Turn-Mill technologies
• Machine architecture & systems integration
• CAD/CAE toolsDesign for Manufacturing (DFM)
• Industry 4.0 & automation
• Technical leadership & mentoring

Experiences:

• 15+ years in machine tool design, product development, or R&D
• Experience with leading European machine tool manufacturers (Germany, Italy, or Austria)
• Proven track record in developing advanced CNC machining centers and multi-tasking machines
• Experience managing new product development and cross-functional engineering projects
• International collaboration with engineering teams
