Product Engineer - Child Safety (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

• Develop and mechanically design technical consumer products with a focus on child car seats – from concept phase through to start of production
• Design and modify product components and assemblies in line with functional and quality requirements
• Create and maintain technical documentation for existing and future products for internal and external stakeholders
• Translate requirements into technical specifications while ensuring clarity and feasibility
• Develop innovative mechanical solutions and visualize ideas through hand sketches
• Support prototype construction and actively contribute to the validation process
• Create and configure 3D-printed parts for prototyping and design verification

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development or a comparable field, combined with several years of experience in the development of technical consumer products – ideally within child safety or automotive accessories
• Strong experience in mechanical design – from concept development through to start of production (SOP), including modifications of components and assemblies
• Very good knowledge of PTC Creo (3D CAD) and Windchill (PLM) for data and release management
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerances (e.g. injection molding, metal forming, assembly concepts)
• Ability to translate requirements into technical specifications and create and maintain technical documentation (drawings, BOMs, specifications)
• Hands‑on experience in prototype construction and 3D printing
• Team player with strong communication skills, reliability, and a structured, solution-oriented working style
• Fluent in German and English
