Position

Professor of Global Philosophy (Grade: W3) starting 1March2028 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, FernUniversität in Hagen.

Responsibilities

• Integrate European and non‑European philosophical traditions into research and teaching.
• Develop and deliver courses for BA/MA degree programs and non‑degree programmes.
• Actively participate in the development and implementation of innovative teaching and learning formats in accordance with university quality standards.
• Present philosophy within an open, interdisciplinary framework, focusing on the historical and cultural development of theories.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary projects and contribute to the further development of interdisciplinary courses offered by various faculties.

Qualifications

• Academic achievement in accordance with Section36 of the NRW Higher Education Act.
• Expertise in researching global philosophy, especially in non‑European epistemologies, ethics, metaphysics, epistemic justice, decolonial, post‑colonial and intercultural perspectives.
• International network and track record of securing third‑party funding.
• Teaching skills in online and on‑site blended learning environments.
• Experience in reflective course design and interdisciplinary research.

Preferred

• Historical or systematic research into non‑European epistemologies, ethics and metaphysics.
• Expertise in conceptions of epistemic justice and their application to scientific and social discourses.
