Professor (W2) of Neuroimmunology
Professorship Profile With more than 4,200 inpatient cases and 21,000 outpatient visits per year, the Department of Neurology is the largest neurological care provider in Hesse and the Rhine-Main region. The professorship is combined with a senior physician (Oberarzt) position in the Department of Neurology and taking charge of the specialized neuroimmunology outpatient service. Substantial leadership experience in a clinical context, a solid understanding of the economic framework of the healthcare system, and a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration are required.
Your Profile You are internationally recognized in the field of clinical and experimental research on neuroimmunological diseases, in particular of autoimmune CNS-diseases, and possess broad methodological expertise in immunology, including documented experience in the use of model organisms. Requirements for your application include a completed degree in human medicine, a doctoral degree, and habilitation or equivalent achievements as well as board certification in neurology. Successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding (especially DFG, BMBF, EU) and internationally visible publications must be demonstrated. are expected to participate in existing and planned collaborative research consortia of the Faculty of Medicine and Goethe University. The department cooperates closely with the Department of Neurosurgery, the Institute of Neuroradiology, the Departments of Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy, the Institute of Neurophysiology, and the Institute of Anatomy. You should demonstrate strong scientific links with one or more of these units as well as with the working groups of the Cooperative Brain Imaging Center (CoBIC), the Ernst Strüngmann Institute (ESI), the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS), and the relevant units of the University. Particular commitment to teaching medical students is expected, as well as willingness to actively contribute to the development of degree programs (Human Medicine and Interdisciplinary Neuroscience) and graduate programs in which the Faculty of Medicine is involved.
