Project Engineer – Control and Drive Technology (f/m/d)

In this role you will lead automation projects and deliver tailored drive and control solutions for customers. You will manage planning, engineering, installation, commissioning and aftercare across project phases, collaborating with Sales, Technology and partners. You will apply your technical expertise to support customers, suppliers and service providers while shaping solutions in a modern, international environment. Expect hands-on work, travel, and a clear impact on ABB’s automation capabilities and customer outcomes.

• Technical lead and coordination of projects for planning and implementing system solutions in drive and automation tech
• Engineering across all project phases including installation, commissioning, and fault/change support
• Collaborate closely with Sales and Technology teams
• Support Sales and Risk/Contract Management with technical planning and customer-facing interactions
• Maintain regular contact with customers and suppliers

• Degree in engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or automation technology or comparable vocational training
• Several years of experience in design and commissioning of electrical and drive systems (low voltage) or control technology
• Experience in technical leadership of projects across phases
• Experience in software and hardware design; CAD tools like EPLAN or AutoCAD desirable
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, planning and organizational skills
• High self-motivation, hands-on mindset, solution- and quality-oriented working style
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (20–30%)
