Project Manager, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) – Naval Shipbuilding Project, Romania (m/f/d)

Rheinmetall (HB, DE) is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead ILS services for a naval shipbuilding project in Romania. This is a full‑time, permanent position based in Bremen‑Vegesack, with primary work in Romania and occasional travel within Europe.

Responsibilities

• Manage the contractually agreed ILS services and ensure deliverables meet time, quality, budget, and client acceptance criteria.
• Consolidate key deliverables such as technical documentation, spare parts selection, cataloguing, maintenance plans, and training concepts.
• Lead and coordinate a geographically distributed team, providing technical oversight.
• Assess project status, identify necessary actions, and proactively manage risks, deviations, and changes.
• Prepare and present status reports, management documents, and tailored presentations for stakeholders.
• Plan and moderate steering committee meetings, status updates, and editorial conferences with a focus on accountability and results.
• Actively manage interfaces with other technical disciplines in shipbuilding to identify dependencies early and ensure smooth collaboration.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, coordination channels, and project transparency within the ILS environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business field (e.g., naval architecture, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, maritime technologies, business administration) or an equivalent qualification.
• Professional experience in complex technical projects, preferably large‑scale military or maritime projects, and/or in an international setting.
• Proven project management skills covering schedules, costs, quality, interfaces, and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of technical documentation, spare parts planning, and ship maintenance.
• Understanding of shipbuilding processes or comparable complex technical development and manufacturing processes.
• Strong communication skills and a confident demeanor when interacting with customers and suppliers.
• Open‑minded approach to international collaboration, especially with Eastern European partners.
• Business‑level proficiency in English; very good German language skills are a plus.
• Willingness to be based primarily in Romania and travel within Europe approximately 20‑30% of the time.
