The University Medical Center Magdeburg has numerous large-scale and new construction projects planned for the coming years-and nearly every one of them involves medical technology equipment. As a Project Manager (m/f/d) for Medical Technology and Construction, you will represent the medical technology department in these projects from the initial planning phase through to commissioning. You will ensure that technical, functional, and regulatory requirements are incorporated at an early stage, thereby helping to shape the medical technology infrastructure of a maximum-care hospital for years to come.

We are looking for an experienced professional (m/f/d) who can confidently manage complex construction projects at the intersection of medical technology, construction, and clinical operations, and who can further develop medical technology construction planning in a future-proof manner.

Here are your responsibilities:

• Project Management and Oversight: You will lead and oversee clinical construction projects of central medical technology relevance-from planning and coordination through to the implementation of technical equipment.
• Medical Technology Equipment Planning: You plan and implement medical technology equipment for renovations and new construction of clinical areas and medical functional areas-from needs assessment and equipment selection to coordination with clinical users.
• Support for New Construction Projects: You will provide technical support for new construction projects with regard to the integration and installation of medical technology systems and ensure that the technical infrastructure meets user needs.
• Technical Installation Requirements: You will identify and define the structural and technical requirements for medical devices and systems-including utility connections (power supply, medical gases, IT connectivity), spatial requirements, structural conditions, and structural loads.
• Laboratory Areas for Research: You plan the technical equipment for laboratories used in medical and biological research, taking into account specific requirements for laboratory infrastructure, device integration, and utility systems.
• Coordination of External Specialized Planners: You coordinate external specialized planners-particularly those specializing in medical technology-and ensure the professional planning and implementation of the technical infrastructure.
• Interface management: You will manage collaboration between clinical users, construction planning, technical departments, and external planning and project stakeholders.

What you bring to the table:

• A completed university or university of applied sciences degree (Diploma, Master's, Bachelor's, or equivalent) in medical technology, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Several years of relevant professional experience in medical technology-ideally related to imaging and image-processing systems, equipment for general and intensive care units, and medical and scientific laboratory settings.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable regulations (MDR, MPDG, MPBetreibV) as well as relevant standards and guidelines (DIN, UVV, VOL).
• Excellent written and spoken German skills for effective coordination with specialist departments; good English skills for communicating with manufacturers and suppliers.
• Proficiency in standard Office applications.
• Communication, creative, and technical skills for collaboration at the interface between technical and clinical departments.
• A structured, self-organized approach to work and the ability to maintain an overview even during intense project phases.
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.

Desirable:

• Experience in managing construction and renovation projects.
• Knowledge of WaveWare.

General Conditions

• Compensation: performance-based, commensurate with the scope of responsibilities and your personal qualifications.
• Position: Immediate start, permanent, full-time (38.5 hours/week); part-time is possible.
• Employment: through UMMD changeMITdigital GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Magdeburg University Medical Center, which is responsible for all IT and medical technology services.
