Quality Assurance Engineer (m/f/d)

In this role you will own and advance a high-performance QA automation ecosystem for gigawatt-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems. You’ll validate complex power systems, grid-forming integration, and HIL testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve reliability and performance. You’ll shape testing strategy in a scalable, SAFe-aligned environment and mentor engineers while driving CI/CD improvements. This is a mission-driven position at Fluence, enabling resilient grids and sustainable energy growth.

• Maintain, scale, and enhance automated testing frameworks
• Leverage Rust and Python test environments to reduce latency outliers (P99.9+)
• Manage containerized Docker-based simulation models and HMI performance tests
• Execute and refine HIL API test suites for grid-forming applications
• Provide technical escalation support for live remote commissioning (Modbus, MQTT, PostgreSQL)
• Drive SAFe product strategy and agile practices across engineering teams
• Lead technical workshops, mentor junior staff, and document best practices
• Improve test coverage, reliability, and CI/CD efficiency

• 8+ years in software quality assurance, test engineering, or related field in energy storage, power systems, or industrial controls
• Strong Python proficiency for test automation and system simulation
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins), Git, and Linux/Bash
• Excellent technical documentation and cross-functional facilitation skills
• SAFe Certification or proven experience scaling SAFe in hardware/software ecosystems
• Advanced programming experience with Rust in high-performance tooling or simulation
• Extensive HIL testing, API validation (REST/GraphQL), and HMI/SCADA performance validation
• Deep expertise in Modbus (TCP/RTU), OPC UA, MQTT (Sparkplug B)
• Familiarity with BESS control algorithms and power systems analysis tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Wireshark)
• Docker container creation, orchestration, and infrastructure troubleshooting
• MATLAB/Simulink and Wireshark for system troubleshooting
