We are expanding our Data Center Engineering Operations team to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports our Data Center Organization within Amazon. The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) operates and maintains electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment inside the data center, aiming for high uptime and strong customer service for internal teams.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to our customers’ services.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the Data Center/Facility.
• Monitor and maintain Data Center systems, including incidents/events, problems, changes, monitoring, escalation/notification/resolution, and other aspects of Data Center support.
• Monitor and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, voice/data, chiller systems, and generators.
• Assist contractors or data center engineers to ensure proper operation and maintenance of facility equipment, including areas where certified (e.g., fiber optics, electrical certification, HVAC repair training/certification, UPS and generator certifications).
• Assist in deploying new equipment, such as building racks and cabling, and other related tasks.
• Respond to internal Rack customer maintenance, repair, and expansion requests through the ticketing system.
• Perform site walkthroughs to verify proper operation of facility equipment and monitoring systems.
• Maintain changes in state in Mission Critical infrastructure in support of corrective/preventive maintenance.
• Review the test quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment, and processes.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• You have received technical (military/trade school) training and/or have similar experience in that field.
• You have electrical qualification(s) necessary to operate low voltage equipment in accordance with applicable German regulations (Elektrofachkraft).
• You have several years of relevant work experience, ideally within Data Center operations.
• This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.

Preferred Qualifications

• You have several years of experience working within a data center.
• You have an associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field or mechanical/electrical trades.
• Certified electrician as per German regulations.
• You have experience with cooling, chillers, and refrigeration cycles.
