This position is based at GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt, a leading research facility operating one of the world's largest particle accelerators. The role involves working in the IT department, specifically with high-performance storage solutions, data archiving, network infrastructure, and Linux system administration.

Responsibilities include:

• Operation, monitoring, and development of storage solutions based on Lustre and Ceph
• Support of data archiving with IBM Storage Protect (TSM), including automation and performance optimization
• Monitoring of Infiniband network infrastructure
• Development and maintenance of monitoring infrastructure with Prometheus, Grafana, and InfluxDB
• Creating dashboards and alerting systems
• Analyzing system metrics for early detection of issues
• Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS/Rocky Linux), automation with Ansible, package management
• Publishing open-source software and research contributions

Qualifications:

• Master or Diploma in computer science, physics, or related field
• Experience with distributed file systems (Lustre, Ceph)
• Knowledge of data archiving and backup systems (IBM Storage Protect/TSM)
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB)
• Linux system administration skills
• Basic knowledge of Infiniband networking
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python)
• Independent, structured, and team-oriented working style
• Proficiency in German and English
