Our Research

Our group is part of the Institute of Computer Science within the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. We focus on the development of innovative programming languages and compilers that enable the creation of portable, high-performance applications for modern computer architectures.

In particular, our research addresses various forms of parallelization. As computing systems become increasingly heterogeneous, such tools are of growing importance.

Our work emphasizes the abstraction of concrete application problems from industry and research, such as simulation software, using theoretically sound methods to create higher-level and reusable solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• conduct innovative research in one of the areas mentioned above
• publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and present them at international conferences
• participate in teaching and examinations (4 teaching hours per week during the semester)
• support curriculum and course development
• actively supervise students
• contribute to the further development of the research group

Your Profile

• has obtained a very good Master’s degree in computer science or a closely related discipline
• has excellent programming skills in a systems programming language such as C/C++ or Rust and a functional programming language such as OCaml or Haskell
• has knowledge in at least one of the following areas: compilers, multithreading, GPUs, FPGAs, SIMD, proof assistants, or other formal methods
• is able to independently acquire and process new knowledge
• is a team player with strong communication skills
• has a very good command of written and spoken English (knowledge of German is beneficial)
• has teaching experience and is willing to further develop their didactic skills
