Research Fellow in Strategic Business Development

Position Overview

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Management for a fixed‑term two‑year position (employment begins 1October2026 or as agreed) in the field of business studies. The candidate will be part of the Strategic Business Development research group and will actively participate in project planning, implementation, and applying for national and international research funding.

Responsibilities

• Build long‑term cooperation with regional companies, development organisations, and university centres, identifying opportunities for research, development and innovation collaboration based on regional economic needs.
• Teach and supervise the Master’s program in Business Development, closely linking coursework to regional research and RDI activities and involving students in projects, collaborations and theses.
• Integrate research, teaching, and regional impact with a strong interest in research‑oriented pedagogy.
• Engage regularly with industry, motivate adult learners and apply practical teaching methods.
• Actively build research networks, especially in Kokkola and Seinäjoki, and collaborate with companies and stakeholders.
• Work regularly in Seinäjoki, Kokkola and Vaasa, with the primary work location being one of these cities.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field of business or management studies.
• Strong research record with experience in securing national and international funding.
• Proven teaching experience in higher education, preferably with adult learners.
• Ability to work effectively with industry partners and regional stakeholders.
• Linkage skills between research, teaching and regional development.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual working hours: 1,612 hours.
• Salary: 3,630–4,080 euros per month (dependent on experience and merit), level5 of the university’s salary system with additional performance‑based pay.
