The Position

We are looking for an outstanding computational biologist to join our mission to identify novel therapies for patients through computational analysis of multi-omics data. As a Research Scientist in the Cardio-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) computational biology team, you will work closely with experts across cardiovascular, liver, and other metabolic diseases. You will apply state-of-the-art computational approaches to explore disease biology, identify novel therapeutic opportunities, and support drug discovery and translational research across the R&D pipeline.

The Position

As a Research Scientist in the Cardio-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) computational biology team, you will work closely with experts across cardiovascular, liver, and other metabolic diseases. You will apply state-of-the-art computational approaches to explore disease biology, identify novel therapeutic opportunities, and support drug discovery and translational research across the R&D pipeline.

Embedded in Boehringer Ingelheim's growing Computational Innovation department (@computationalinnovation), you will help shape our future portfolio by generating data-driven insights and enabling key decisions across the drug discovery pipeline.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site.

This position is part time eligible with 80 %.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will apply state-of-the-art in-silico methods to omics data to identify and validate novel drug targets for CRM diseases and contribute computational analyses to our CRM research portfolio projects
  • You will integrate diverse omics, genetics, phenotypic and clinical data to uncover disease biology and new therapeutic opportunities
  • Furthermore, you will collaborate with therapeutic area scientists and cross-functional teams
  • Moreover, you will present and discuss analysis results with project teams and stakeholders, including laboratory leads and scientists from partnering functions
  • In addition, you will support the development of new computational methods and workflows

Requirements

  • PhD in Computational Biology or a related field (e.g., Bioinformatics or Data Science), with first post-PhD experience in an academic or industry setting
  • Extensive hands-on experience with omics data analysis, statistical analysis and machine-learning methods relevant to drug discovery
  • Proficiency in R or Python, with experience in version control systems (e.g., GitHub or Bitbucket), and the application of FAIR data principles
  • Domain knowledge of cardio-renal-metabolic diseases is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, including the clear presentation of technical topics
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
