The Role

As a Robotics Engineer | Sensor Fusion at Hades, you will design, build, and scale the sensing and perception stack for our Hades laser drilling system—taking it from early‑stage lab prototypes to robust, field‑deployable systems. You will work at the intersection of hardware, embedded systems, and data‑driven software, integrating diverse sensors into a cohesive system that enables precise, reliable, and autonomous drilling operations in extreme subsurface environments.

This is a foundational role with significant ownership and direct collaboration with the founding team, spanning engineering, geoscience, and applied physics.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate sensor systems (selection, wiring, calibration, field deployment).
• Build robust data pipelines for acquisition, filtering, and synchronization.
• Develop sensor fusion algorithms for real‑time inference (e.g., lithology, temperature, distance).
• Translate physical signals into reliable, actionable system outputs.
• Test, debug, and harden systems under real‑world operating conditions.

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual who possesses:

• Degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Computer Engineering, or similar.
• Proven hands‑on experience with real‑world sensors and hardware systems (1–5 years).
• Strong programming skills (Python required; C++/embedded a plus).
• Experience with signal processing, sensor fusion, or ML on physical data.
• Evidence of exceptionalability (projects, startup experience, or equivalent).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Willing to reside in the greater Munich area.
