To strengthen our team at the location in Bremen or Wietmarschen-Lohne with flexible working time models and the option of home office we are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer (all genders welcome) - Maritime Robotics – Manipulator Control & Trajectory Planning (AUV)
As a Robotics Software Engineer specializing in maritime robotics, you will be responsible for the control and trajectory planning of manipulator arms on autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) used for close-range inspection of maritime infrastructure. You will develop robust, ROS2-based algorithms and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and research partners to drive innovative solutions in underwater robotics.
You develop the control of various manipulator arms on autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), take care of efficient kinematics computation, and work on trajectory planning for our manipulator arms, which perform close-range inspections and non-destructive testing tasks.
You design inspection solutions for critical subsea infrastructure (e.g. pipelines, offshore platforms, energy and communication networks) and validate them for deployment under real ocean conditions.
You plan, conduct, and evaluate simulations and maritime field tests, analyzing relevant sensor and navigation data.
You use modern software development environments and open-source frameworks (in particular ROS2) as well as relevant libraries to implement and evaluate your algorithms.
You work closely with other teams within the Subsea group, including high-level mission planning, manipulator control, and vehicle control, as well as with external partners such as universities and research institutions, actively contributing to joint research and development projects.
