SAP BI (Business Intelligence) Architect

Role Overview

• Level: Senior-level technical and strategic leadership position.
• Core Focus: Translating complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing SAP data models, reporting strategies, and integration architectures.
• Distinction: Unlike a SAP BI Developer (who builds specific reports and dashboards), the SAP BI Architect owns the end-to-end vision, technical roadmap, data flow, and governance framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Architecture & Design: Design end-to-end data architectures covering data extraction, staging, enterprise data warehousing (EDW), and presentation layers.
• SAP Modernization & Cloud: Oversee implementations, upgrades, and migrations across modern SAP platforms such as SAP BW, SAP HANA, SAP Datasphere, and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
• Data Modeling & ETL: Define dimensional and relational data models, calculation views, data provisioning (SLT, BODS, or Direct Extraction), and query optimization (BEx queries, WebI).
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with SAP functional modules (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP) and non-SAP source systems to ensure data consistency, integrity, and single-source-of-truth reporting.
• Governance & Performance Tuning: Establish data governance, security/access controls (CMC), system performance tuning, and troubleshooting standards.
• Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Guide development teams, manage offshore/onsite consultants, and present technical roadmaps to executive leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Extensive hands-on experience in SAP BI/BW, data warehousing, and full-lifecycle project implementations.
  • SAP Platforms: SAP BW/4HANA, SAP HANA (Attribute, Analytic, Calculation Views), SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ / WebI / CMC), and SAP Datasphere.
  • Data Integration: ETL/ELT tools, SLT, BODS, OData, or third-party cloud data integration.
  • Database & Cloud Knowledge: Experience with HANA database, SQL, and hyperscalers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
