SAP MDG Architect (m/w/d) - Germany

As a SAP S/4HANA MDG Architect, you will design and govern end-to-end MDG solutions within S/4HANA, creating scalable master data foundations. You’ll lead architecture and governance for multiple domains and partner with business and technical teams to enable enterprise transformation. The role focuses on defining data models, workflows, and integration patterns, delivering high-quality master data across domains. This position offers the chance to shape MDG strategies, drive data quality, and influence cross-functional delivery in a dynamic, global services environment.

• Lead end-to-end SAP MDG architecture design across S/4HANA and integrated systems, including workshops and blueprinting
• Drive the MDG workstream across SAP Activate phases: Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, Run
• Define MDG data models, governance processes, workflows, rules, and validation frameworks
• Architect MDG solutions for principal master data domains (Business Partner, Customer, Vendor, Product/Material, Finance, Custom Objects)
• Recommend best practices, reuse standard content, and define extensions where needed
• Configure data models, UI modeling (FPM), process models, rule-based workflows, data replication (SOA, IDocs, ALE), BRF+ rules
• Lead MDG consolidation, central governance, and mass processing designs
• Define integration architecture with S/4HANA, ECC, MDM, CRM, SRM, PLM and external systems
• Collaborate with middleware teams (PI/PO, CPI) for replication frameworks
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, data strategy, and security models
• Develop enterprise master data governance framework and policies
• Define data standards, ownership models, stewardship processes, and approval workflows
• Drive data quality rules, dashboards, and exception handling
• Oversee functional specs, test planning, UAT, cutover, migration validations, and hypercare
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery and governance decisions
• Provide thought leadership on MDG roadmap, data standards, and transformation strategy
• Conduct training and KT for business stewards and functional teams
• Support data migration strategy, mapping, cleansing, and harmonization
• Validate load cycles, conversion rules, and data readiness reports
• Coordinate with ETL/migration teams for seamless cutover

• Strong hands-on experience with SAP MDG on S/4HANA (hub or co-deployed)
• Experience in at least 2+ full-cycle MDG or S/4 implementations
• Deep knowledge of data models and governance framework, process modeling and workflow, BRF+, BAdIs, FPM, UI modeling
• Data replication frameworks (SOA, IDoc, ALE), MDG consolidation and mass processing
• Experience designing MDG for Customer/Vendor BP, Material Master, FICO master data
• Web Dynpro/FPM concepts, OData, APIs, Fiori
• Ability to guide ABAP developers on custom logic, enhancements, WRICEF
• Experience in Agile/Hybrid methodologies
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to lead cross-functional workshops and drive consensus
• S/4HANA Certification or SAP MDG Certification (Nice to Have)
• Experience in complex industries (Retail, Automotive, Manufacturing, CPG, Pharma, Utilities) is a plus
