Scada Network Engineer

In this role you will safeguard and optimize Battery Energy Storage Systems by integrating SCADA, networking, and cybersecurity within Fluence environments. You will collaborate across the EMEA region to ensure reliable monitoring, communication, and compliance. You’ll work on system architecture, testing, and continuous improvement to support a secure, high-performing energy transition. This is a hands-on role with direct customer and partner interaction and a clear impact on reliability and safety.

• Lead project-specific SCADA, monitoring, networking, cybersecurity, and system architecture requirements for operational BESS
• Integrate Fluence control systems with TSO and customer SCADA environments
• Develop and maintain core system documentation (network architectures, diagrams, inventories, backups)
• Collaborate with Field Service Engineers to troubleshoot and implement solutions
• Support testing activities for upgrades and change orders, including validation procedures
• Participate in hands-on lab testing and evaluation of new technologies
• Act as technical interface for customers, partners, and subcontractors on SCADA, networking, and compliance
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot network/communication issues, and escalate as needed
• Drive root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure change management practices and comprehensive technical records
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and cybersecurity best practices
• Provide technical reporting and performance recommendations to stakeholders
• Support development and tracking of key operational performance metrics
• Contribute to safety culture and travel across the EMEA region as required

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SCADA, OT, industrial networking, power generation, utilities, or related industry
• Hands-on experience with IEC 60870-5-101/104, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, TCP/IP, OPC
• Strong understanding of SCADA systems, RTUs, PLCs, relays, gateways, data concentrators, and industrial infrastructure
• Knowledge of network architecture, OSI layers, routing, switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, and industrial Ethernet
• Familiarity with Linux, scripting (Python or Bash), and GitHub
• Understanding of industrial control equipment and I/O systems
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to prioritize in a dynamic, customer-focused environment
• Experience with CMMS is an advantage
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus
