This is your chance to join the C&A team as a Security and Health & Safety Specialist (w/m/d).
In this varied position, you will play a key role in protecting our employees, customers, buildings, and assets. You will develop sustainable security concepts, conduct audits, support our locations in all matters relating to occupational health and safety, and ensure compliance with legal requirements as well as internal standards. You will work closely with store teams, management, and various specialist departments.
Area of Responsibility
Your primary area of responsibility covers the federal states of Hesse, Lower Saxony, Hamburg, and Bremen.
Ideally, you should be based within this region, as the role requires regular travel between our locations three to four days per week, as well as occasional overnight stays. To support your business travel, we will of course provide you with a company car.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform regular loss prevention, security, and health and safety (H&S) audits in all C&A entities (Stores, Distribution Centres, Headquarters) to ensure the company’s security standards and H&S compliance.
- Report audit results, identified risks, and recommendations to the responsible site representatives (store manager, district manager) to initiate and agree on countermeasures for the entities.
- Report KPIs and consolidated findings to the market lead and/or omni‑selling lead to ensure awareness for loss prevention, security, and H&S topics, and to decrease losses and H&S risks.
- Evaluate and verify that the agreed measures are in place and effective, to ensure the loss prevention goals and H&S compliance.
- Set up, together with the site managers, the necessary H&S risk assessment and further documentation, as well as keeping it up to date, to support the business.
- Assess H&S risks of new processes, machines, products, tools, workspaces, and the working environment (e.g. noise, ventilation) and give recommendations to minimise the risks for co‑workers, customers, and third‑party employees.
- Conduct investigations, evidence gathering, interviews, interrogations, and documentation for fraud cases to ensure proper case closure in collaboration with other departments (selling, HR, legal).
- Train and educate team leaders, managers, and other relevant positions in selling, logistics, and office management regarding loss prevention, security, and H&S topics to set and ensure the company’s safety standards and fulfil the legal H&S requirements.
- Control the selection and tendering process for security agencies, together with Indirect Procurement, and align the security agencies with C&A’s loss prevention goals to ensure optimal support by the agencies.
- Plan and observe the budget for security agencies and necessary CAPEX investments for security measures (e.g. security tags, video surveillance) in the market to protect the assets and ensure a proper balance between cost and benefit.
- Collaborate and share insights within the entire loss prevention and security team to identify and use best practices for the local market.
What You Bring
- Apprenticeship in retail or security service and formal education as SiFa (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit, Occupational Health & Safety Expert), engineer or technician degree, or equivalent.
- Alternatively, you meet the requirements set out in Section 7 of the German Occupational Safety Act (ASiG) (e.g., you hold a bachelor's degree, an engineering degree, a master craftsman qualification, a technician qualification, or a comparable master‑craftsman‑level qualification) and are willing to complete the training required to become a Specialist for Occupational Safety.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in retail and/or logistics in a technical or managerial role.
- Profound understanding of criminal methods in retail and logistics (e.g. theft, fraud, robbery, burglary) as well as prevention and investigation methods.
- Profound knowledge of the relevant H&S regulations in the respective country.
- Solution‑oriented and pragmatic approach to minimising risks and developing appropriate recommendations.
- Self‑reliant, accurate, and reliable way of working.
- Strong analytical skills and proven ability to perform audits, create and evaluate risk assessments (Loss Prevention, security, and H&S).
- Fluent in German and English.
- High willingness to travel within the designated area of responsibility.
