Your mission as a Senior Accountant (m/f/d)
The Senior Accountant will be a key driver of financial integrity and the technical architect of the accounting function. The role focuses on ensuring the highest quality in financial data and building a scalable, automated accounting ecosystem. Working closely with the Team Lead Accounting, the candidate will leverage technology and deep accounting expertise to evolve a cutting‑edge global finance function.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize the financial ledgers of the Appinio Group, ensuring they are accurate, compliant, and documented to the highest standards.
- Collaborate with the Team Lead Accounting to achieve a fast and clean month‑end and year‑end close (HGB) for the German entity and support subsidiaries.
- Prepare all necessary documentation and schedules for annual audits, acting as the internal expert for auditors.
- Drive the implementation and optimization of the tool stack (Light, DATEV, Lucanet) to build a truly digital and scalable accounting function.
- Act as a technical gatekeeper, reviewing accounting topics to ensure data robustness and minimise manual work.
- Serve as a technical sparring partner for the Team Lead Accounting on accounting, tax, and compliance issues.
- Support the technical consolidation and international alignment of subsidiaries in Spain, the UK, the US, and Colombia.
Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience in a 'Big 4' environment or a high‑stakes accounting role in a fast‑paced company.
- In-depth understanding of German tax and accounting standards (HGB); knowledge of IFRS or an advanced accounting qualification is a plus.
- A mindset that challenges the status quo and experience building systems that automate accounting tasks; expertise in modern ERP/accounting tools is essential.
- A proven track record of delivering high‑quality financial work under tight deadlines.
- Comfortable using DATEV, Lucanet and Google Sheets, and translating financial data into clear structures.
- German language skills at C2 level (essential for HGB/Tax) and fluency in English.
