About The Finance Team

Our team is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of our products while actively building and implementing the accounting infrastructure required for new product launches. We value seamless communication and work closely with cross‑functional partners to turn complex data into clear financial insights.

About The Senior Accountant Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with 3+ years of experience and a CPA designation (or one in progress) to take ownership of our credit card-related financial operations. This role is perfect for someone who is naturally curious and loves problem-solving. You will be someone who doesn’t just see a discrepancy but feels driven to investigate and solve the root cause to ensure the integrity of our financial data.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Manage and account for SimpleTax, Wealthsimple Mortgages, and Wealthsimple Cash products.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including product analysis and month-over-month variance analysis.
• Play a key role in building and implementing new accounting processes for new product launches.
• Prepare monthly accruals and account reconciliations to ensure accurate and complete financial statements.
• Support the month-end close process.
• Assist in developing and documenting new accounting policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain relationships with Operations and Data teams to ensure seamless communication and accurate reporting.

Skills you’ll bring:

• CPA designation (or working towards completion of CPA designation).
• Experience with IFRS and strong familiarity with product accounting principles including revenue recognition.
• Excellent communication skills, able to break down complex ideas into simple, easy-to-understand language that builds trust and rapport.
• Naturally curious: if something seems off, you want to figure out what’s going on.
• Pays close attention to details and thoroughly reviews their own work.
• Adaptable and able to thrive in fast-paced, constantly changing environments.
• Experience with Netsuite is an asset.

Compensation

CA$89.6K – CA$112K Offers Equity

Base salary range: For this role, candidates located in Canada can expect a base salary range, described in the posting. Actual compensation is determined based on skills, experience, and role level. Exceptional candidates may be considered above the top of the range, and pay can increase quickly for those who make a big impact in the role.

Total compensation: In addition to base salary, permanent employees receive equity compensation. We use clear job levels and market-based salary bands to ensure compensation is fair and consistent across the company.
