Senior AI Engineer (Forward Deployed) (all genders)

In this Senior AI Engineer role, you will implement AI- and data-driven solutions end-to-end, translating business logic into robust, scalable systems. You collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to design agentic AI workflows and data pipelines, balancing AI-first delivery with reliability and cost awareness. You will own technical quality, observability, and production readiness, shaping impactful Gen AI applications and data platforms. This hands-on position combines architecture input with practical implementation in a fast-moving, forward-deployed context.

• Understand and structure business processes, decision logic, and data relationships across domains
• Design and build agentic AI systems including orchestration, tools, and decision logic
• Develop data layers, models, pipelines, and semantic layers; combine agentic and data-driven approaches
• Apply structured LLM orchestration with retries, fallbacks, and guardrails
• Implement core system logic; enable maintainability, observability, and production readiness
• Lead technical domain workshops and solution sessions; collaborate with Engineering Manager, Cloud AI Architect, and QA
• Ensure reliability, security, and cost control in production environments
• Partner with customers at working level and drive shared delivery ownership

• Very senior, hands-on engineer in AI and/or data engineering
• AI-first mindset with good judgment on when not to use an LLM
• Git and CI/CD expertise (Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab)
• Production mindset: reliability, observability, security, cost control
• German and English business proficiency
• Experience with structured LLM orchestration and tool calling
• Experience designing multi-agent systems and handling retries, fallbacks, guardrails
• Strong Python skills (FastAPI, async IO, Pydantic) and production APIs
• Clear contract design and integration of multiple external systems
• Strong Azure and Databricks (Lakehouse) experience; Spark and Delta Lake fundamentals
• Enterprise Azure environments (Managed Identity, Key Vault, monitoring, basic networking)
• System thinking: agent orchestration flows, state handling, latency awareness
