About The Role

The partner company is seeking a Senior Android Developer (Kotlin) to develop and enhance native Android applications, with a particular focus on accessibility and inclusive design. This fully remote position is based in Germany and offers the opportunity to work with an international team on ongoing projects. You will contribute across the mobile development lifecycle, using Kotlin and working with Jetpack Compose and/or traditional Android Views. Alongside building features and maintaining application quality, you will help make experiences intuitive for people who use assistive technologies. This includes improving navigation and interactions with TalkBack, applying Android accessibility capabilities, and testing implementations to identify and resolve usability barriers. You will collaborate with colleagues to support reliable, maintainable applications and help align accessibility work with recognised standards, including WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 where applicable.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of professional experience developing native Android applications and strong practical Kotlin skills. You should have commercial experience with Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views, alongside substantial hands‑on experience implementing accessibility features in Android products.

Relevant Qualifications And Experience Include

• Practical experience using TalkBack to assess and improve Android application usability.
• Working knowledge of Android Accessibility APIs and/or Compose Semantics.
• Experience configuring content descriptions, accessibility roles and states, and accessibility focus.
• Knowledge of accessible navigation, scalable text, appropriate font sizes, and usable touch targets.
• Experience conducting accessibility testing and resolving issues identified through assistive technology use.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards, ideally including WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.2.
• Good English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with an international team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin, delivering new features and improving existing functionality.
• Build and enhance user interface components with Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views.
• Maintain application stability, performance, maintainability, and high code quality.
• Integrate accessibility considerations throughout implementation and development workflows.
• Improve compatibility with TalkBack using Android Accessibility APIs and Compose Semantics where appropriate.
• Configure content descriptions, roles, states, focus behavior, and navigation to support assistive technologies.
• Support scalable text, accessible font sizing, and appropriately sized touch targets.
• Conduct accessibility checks, especially with TalkBack, identify usability issues, and implement improvements.
• Assess accessibility implementations against relevant standards and contribute to compliance with WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 guidelines.
• Work with team members to deliver dependable, inclusive mobile experiences for a diverse user base.
