(Senior) Associate (m/f/d), Financial Restructuring

Munich & Frankfurt

This opportunity is for a (Senior) Associate to join an established and growing Financial & Operational Restructuring (F&OR) Advisory practice. The role involves delivering projects to clients, advising on distressed situations, assessing financial performance, conducting independent business reviews, evaluating business plans, and supporting business development activities.

How You Will Contribute

• Advise companies, investors, lenders, or other stakeholders facing distressed situations; assess Group-level financial performance in addition to high‑level studies of the financial viability of subsidiary companies.
• Conduct independent business reviews, diagnostic assessments of key issues and business outlook, appraisal of options & contingency planning, and cash‑flow assessments.
• Evaluate business plans and financial projections, including risk and opportunity assessments, and contribute to performance monitoring following implementation.
• Develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders in Germany and the European restructuring community through the delivery of value‑added client engagements.
• Contribute to business development activities, including the creation of client pitches and proposals to win new mandates.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background combined with experience within a restructuring team at a leading consultancy firm or a Big 4 accountancy firm.
• Experience contributing to or leading work streams in restructuring projects (e.g., independent business reviews, short‑term cash‑flow assessments, capital structure analysis, lender restructuring options).
• Expertise in quantitative and qualitative analyses, including constructing integrated financial models and analyzing financial under‑performance.
• Fluent business‑level English and German are essential; additional European language skills are advantageous.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced, challenging, and uncertain environment.
