Senior Backend Developer (f/m/d)

In this role you will strengthen PwC Germany’s internal IT team within the Business Services division. You will build and maintain a mature PHP/Symfony backend, handling high-volume, cross-country workflows and data integrity. You will contribute to an API-first architecture and empower other systems through robust data models and migrations. You collaborate with Product to shape technical solutions and own end-to-end decisions, delivering reliable, scalable software that supports critical business processes. • Ship features and fix issues to maintain stability of critical workflows
• Develop in a mature PHP/Symfony codebase with complex business logic and high transaction volume
• Contribute to API-first architecture and framework-agnostic services for external consumption
• Design and maintain robust data models, migrations and audit trails
• Collaborate with Product to understand problems and constraints and own decisions end-to-end

• At least five years of professional PHP and Symfony experience
• Experience with API-based systems (REST; GraphQL is a plus)
• Data modeling expertise; migrations and audit trails
• Exposure to Node.js or Python in integration scenarios (advantage)
• English proficiency in an international setup; German is beneficial
• Structured, reliable work approach; ability to document decisions and use AI tools where valuable
