Senior Backend Engineer Node.js + AWS (EMEA/APAC)

In this backend-focused role, you will help scale Deel’s global payroll and HR platform by building robust features, APIs, and services with a strong emphasis on performance and security. You’ll collaborate with frontend, product, design, and QA to deliver customer-centric software in a remote-first, fast-paced environment. • Collaborate in a cross-functional team with frontend, product, design, and QA to deliver seamless experiences
• Participate in product planning from discovery to deployment across the SDLC
• Develop and enhance features, APIs, and continuously improve products
• Identify, debug, and fix issues to maintain high quality (“Deel Speed”)
• Ensure customer-focused, high-quality engineering and reliable services
• Build secure, scalable APIs with input validation and JWT-based authentication, considering queue-based architectures

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Backend development expertise with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript; knowledge of at least one other server-side language
• PostgreSQL proficiency including query optimization, migrations, and data modeling
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Experience designing scalable systems and handling high transaction volumes
• API development experience including security aspects like JWT and scalability considerations
• Remote collaboration experience in distributed teams
