As a Senior Backend Engineer , you\'ll play a key role in evolving our platform while working alongside a collaborative product squad of engineers, a Product Manager, and QA.

We\'re looking for a product-minded Senior Backend Engineer . Engineering depth is the job, but you\'ll ask "why?" before building, challenge requirements that don\'t serve the user, and work with your squad to find the best solution—not simply implement what\'s written in a ticket. You\'ll help shape technical decisions while partnering closely with your team to deliver real customer value.

Your primary focus will be backend development in Node.js , with occasional opportunities to contribute to our React frontend when it helps deliver the best customer experience. We value engineers who are curious, collaborative, and comfortable stepping outside their primary area of expertise when needed.

First 3 months: You\'ll get to know the team, our product, and the Time Off domain, where you\'ll begin contributing to improvements that thousands of customers rely on every day. Supported by experienced teammates, you\'ll become familiar with our architecture, engineering practices, and ways of working while shipping your first meaningful improvements.

Within 6 months: You\'ll take shared ownership of key parts of the product, contribute to technical decision-making, review code, and help spread knowledge across the team. Working closely with your squad, you\'ll improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability while helping shape the future of the platform.

After 1 year: You\'ll be a trusted technical partner within the team, driving improvements, contributing to architectural discussions, and helping teammates succeed through collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. What You\'ll Be Doing

• Build and improve core HR workflows in Node.js, working on rules-heavy domains where correctness and reliability are essential (for example, country-specific time-off policies).
• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services used by organizations of all sizes.
• Improve the performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing features as our customer base continues to grow.
• Refactor and modernize our platform while ensuring a seamless experience for existing customers.
• Occasionally contribute to frontend development in React when it helps deliver the best customer experience.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, Product Managers, QA, and designers to solve customer problems and deliver valuable product improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing, helping raise the engineering bar across the team.

What You\'ll Bring

• Extensive experience designing and building scalable backend applications with Node.js.
• Experience with React, or an interest in contributing across the stack when needed.
• Senior-level engineering judgment—you know when to refactor, when to optimize, and when shipping the right solution creates the most value.
• A product mindset: you\'re comfortable working with evolving requirements, asking thoughtful questions, balancing technical quality with customer impact, and making pragmatic trade-offs.
• Curiosity and flexibility—you enjoy learning new technologies and occasionally stepping outside your primary area of expertise.
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
