Senior Backend Engineer, TypeScript

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate backend services and REST APIs in TypeScript/Node.js.


• Integrate and monitor interfaces to POS, customer and partner systems.


• Implement rule-based checks and approval/exception workflows technically.


• Contribute to architecture: clarify requirements, evaluate options, make trade-offs.


• Implement security, data protection and traceability (auth, encryption, audit logs).


• Ensure performance, scalability and stability for production.


• Write meaningful tests — from unit through integration to end-to-end.


• Expand observability: logging, monitoring and alerting for your endpoints and the overall software.


• Close collaboration with Platform.

Qualifications

• Several years of senior backend engineering experience, ideally with TypeScript/Node.js.


• Experienced in designing and operating REST APIs and integrating external interfaces.


• Confident with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases and clean data models including auditing.


• Understanding of complex rule-based business logic and workflows.


• Security mindset: OAuth2/JWT, authorization concepts, secure data flows.


• Pragmatism between code quality and delivery, plus enjoyment in architectural sparring.


• Initiative with ambiguous requirements: ask questions, structure, challenge the business.


• Fluent German, good command of English.


• Experience in regulated environments is a plus.
