Senior Business Development Manager Europe – Maritime Solutions (m/f/d)
Rostock, full-time, permanent
Your Responsibilities
- Strategic Market Development: Develop and implement regional market strategies to identify and penetrate high-potential maritime hubs.
- Proactive Lead Sourcing: Conduct independent market analysis, including the screening of industry newsletters, trade publications, and professional databases, to identify and track newbuild projects and refit schedules from the earliest planning stages.
- Stakeholder Management: Identify and engage key decision-makers across the maritime value chain, including ship owners, shipyards, system integrators, consultants, and agencies.
- End-to-End Sales Ownership: Lead the independent acquisition of new customers and take full ownership of the sales cycle—from initial lead generation and solution-based quoting to final contract negotiations and successful order intake.
- Key Account Cultivation & Long-term Growth: Establish and nurture sustainable, trust-based relationships with won customers. Act as a strategic partner throughout the project lifecycle to ensure long-term loyalty, identify follow-up business (service/upgrades), and maximize the lifetime value of each account.
Your Profile
- Industry Expertise: Several years of experience in the maritime sector (shipbuilding, supplier industry, or maritime services). An established network of shipping companies, shipyards, and engineering firms.
- Sales Track Record: Proven success in solution selling of complex technical products or systems, particularly in acquiring new business (hunter mentality).
- Strategic Market Development: Experience in conducting market analyses and developing go-to-market strategies for specific regions or hubs.
- Contract and Negotiation Skills: Sound knowledge of conducting complex contract negotiations in English, ideally with a focus on project-based business.
- Partner Management: Experience in building and managing agents/system integrators.
- Personality: Proactive, self-reliant, and confident in an international environment.
- Willingness to Travel: Flexibility to visit global maritime hubs.
