Senior C++ Simulation Software Engineer - Space

In this role you will develop mission-critical space-ground software within an international team in Darmstadt. You contribute across the full software lifecycle, from requirements to maintenance, applying best practices and leading complex implementations. You will work on space mission systems for agencies and industry partners, driving performance improvements and robust documentation. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership in a collaborative, high-tech environment.

• Oversee development of ground systems across all software lifecycle phases
• Lead requirements engineering, system analysis, design and implementation
• Perform unit, integration, and system testing; provide maintenance and support
• Produce technical documentation per software engineering standards
• Deliver software on schedule and within quality targets
• Take ownership of complex tasks and technical solutions
• Lead simulator performance improvement activities (e.g., callgrind analysis)
• Maintain project docs and JIRA tracking; mentor junior engineers
• Interface with customers and participate in TPMs; coordinate with SIM Group Manager
• Support project planning, resource follow-up, and project audits
• Contribute to project management reporting and documentation
• Explore studies, analyses, and new technologies; support proposals and customer sites

• Minimum 5 years of experience modelling satellite systems
• Hands-on experience with SIMULUS and other simulation frameworks
• Experience with SMP2 or ECSS-SMP standards
• Strong programming skills in C++ and OO design
• Experience in GNU/Linux environments
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Proactive, self-driven, solution-oriented mindset
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and work under pressure
