Senior Category Manager – Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization

As Senior Category Manager for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) at Boehringer Ingelheim you'll be on an exciting mission.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for complex global categories that set new standards for speed to market, focusing on new technologies, long-term sustainable sourcing decisions, competitive sourcing, and productivity.
• Through active supplier management, guarantee a supply that leads to revenue growth for critical products and keep a close eye on the market to identify sourcing risks and corresponding mitigation activities.
• Lead cross-functional teams that implement innovative processes resulting in external cost reduction and compliance with legal requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Global Category in critical negotiations to maximize our competitive advantage.
• Analyze internal demand and ensure an optimal supply.
• Contribute knowledge and new ideas to cross-category projects and lead them to success.

Requirements

• Master's or bachelor's degree and relevant work experience in business administration, pharmacy and/or chemistry.
• Long-term experience in supply management on a global basis for a pharmaceutical company, ideally in global category management.
• Several years of track record working with GxP combined with knowledge of category strategies and stakeholder management.
• Specific market intelligence and sourcing experience in API/chemicals, chemical intermediates and/or CDMO required.
• Profound knowledge of demand management, market and supplier analysis, due diligence, risk management, contract and supplier management.
• Open‑minded, motivated, persuasive, and perseverant personality with outstanding internal and external relationship management skills and willingness to take on responsibility.
• Fluency in English; German knowledge is a plus.
