Senior Consultant Energy Storage – DNV (Dresden, Germany)

Contract Type: Permanent | Full-time | On-site.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work on multidisciplinary technical consultancy projects (65-75% of the role), including identifying risks and mitigating measures for BESS projects in development, providing technical advice during procurement, construction and operation, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Execute consultancy/engineering projects on battery energy storage systems (focus on Germany), such as business case assessments, technical due diligence, owner’s engineering, safety/design reviews, and training.
• Independently drive business development with a focus on Germany: generate proposals, build client relationships, and support strategic choices.
• Manage projects across national and international teams, presenting DNV’s services at customer meetings and events.
• Monitor developments in the energy storage market in Germany and abroad to continuously improve our way of working and support the team’s growth.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrotechnical engineering, sustainable energy technology, or a related field.
• Preferably 3+ years of experience with grid-scale (Li-ion) battery energy storage systems/applications/regulations.
• Advanced project management skills and a solid understanding of energy storage in transmission and distribution systems.
• Strong analytical and communication skills in English and German.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Compliance with statutory security and regulatory requirements in all countries of operation; background checks will be conducted.
