Senior Director Functional Safety

In this Senior Director role, you lead a 40+-person Functional Safety team across multiple sites to ensure safety aspects of new products. You drive the team’s strategy, roadmap, and IP assets development, shaping how functional safety becomes a differentiator for NXP. You partner with Product Lines, IP teams and central safety groups to deliver safe, scalable products while enabling customer support. You will lead transformational initiatives, including AI-enabled capabilities, to boost efficiency and impact.

• Lead and coordinate a dispersed team of Functional Safety engineers and managers
• Define and drive the Functional Safety roadmap and reusable IP assets
• Oversee Functional Safety Architecture and Management for new products
• Champion Customer Support and Enablement activities in safety
• Align best practices across hardware and software safety teams
• Foster internal and external partnerships to advance capabilities
• Steer the Technical Steering Team across NXP business lines
• Drive use of AI and other innovations to improve development efficiency

• Combined 10+ years in functional safety, chip design, and electronic system design
• Experience leading a globally-dispersed team of managers (5+ years)
• Systems, hardware and software engineering knowledge preferred
• Knowledge of automotive and/or industrial markets from a functional safety perspective
• Strong leadership, execution, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to set and deliver a team strategy
